Private Launch

If you have your own craft then why not bring it down to Whitlingham and launch on the Great Broad? There is a slipway adjacent to the Great Broad car park, next to the visitor centre with toilets and a café.

7 day launch tickets can be used throughout the season and do not have to be used within one week.

Private Launch - terms and conditions

  • No powercraft or outboards permitted other than the centres own safety boats
  • All users must first register with the centre to ensure all craft launched are safe and owners have the ability and experience appropriate to the conditions. Forms are available on the day or can be downloaded from the website at www.whitlinghamoec.co.uk.
  • Private Launch may be restricted due to events, centre activities and safety cover availability. Check the website or contact the centre before venturing out and always register at the centre before unloading your craft.
  • No private launch will be possible without a valid ticket.
  • For safety reasons it is only possible to use the Broad under the presence and supervision of Whitlingham Outdoor Education Staff. Staff are available to supervise while you are afloat and to help out in emergencies. You are not authorised to launch when the centre/water space is closed, even if you have a valid ticket.
  • Whitlingham OEC and Norfolk County Council can accept no responsibility for any person accessing the water space or other areas outside of the operational times set by the Duty Manager.
  • Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre operates the license for use of both Private Broads. As such, all water activities are supervised by and under the control of the Duty Manager on site.
  • The final decision to enter the Broad rests with the Duty Manager and will be judged by regarding prevailing weather conditions, condition of craft, other activities and owner’s ability.
  • Non-compliance with the rules of good practise on the water (available on application) will result in the cancellation of a users registration card.
  • You are advised to have your own third party insurance.
