Whitlingham Outdoor Festival
21st September 2008 10:00 to 18:00

You may notice that the date for this has changed from that advertised in our brochure as Norwich are playing at home on 20th, therefore this event has been moved to 21st Sept.
The event will showcase the excellent range of outdoor and adventurous activities at Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre together with opportunities to meet athletes and experts with vast experience. In addition to talks and displays about the activities, expeditions, local clubs, getting qualified and progression routes, the public can meet with a number of craft and kit suppliers and take part in taster sessions.

Whitlingham Outdoor Education Centre, which has been selected as a potential Olympic training camp for canoe / kayak flatwater and Tri athlon will also
feature a showcase of arts performances to celebrate the beginning of the four year Cultural Olympiad and so far includes the following:

· A Chinese Dragon Dance, Lion Dance and martial arts display (linked to
the Beijing handover) to be performed by Nam Yang UK (This troupe
performed at the recent Chinese New Year event in Trafalgar Square)
· A performance by Scarabeus, an internationally renowned aerial theatre
company, highlighting the parallels between gymnastics and aerial dance
· A performance of Dojo Drumming.
· A sound stage featuring dancers and acoustic performers playing world music.
·

The event will be spread over the full 280 acre site of Whitlingham Country Park and be divided into the following zones.
· Adventure - Water and land based activity, equipment suppliers and stands. This area includes the Outdoor Education Centre and much of the Cultural Olympiad activity
· Lifestyles - Demo area for extreme sports
· O Zone - Acoustic sound and dance stage, camping/outdoor equipment area and Kite display
· Zen - Tai Chi and activities promoting quiet ethos of the outdoors
· Enviro - Protecting habitats, countryside code, forest schools etc

There will be lots to see and do for all ages.The event is free to enter with many of the activities also free or from as little as £1.
So make a note in your diary and be there at the first Whitlingham Outdoor Festival.




Pudsey Paddle IV
14th November 2008 10:00 to 15:00

The forth in the series of Pudsey Paddle events at the centre. Last year raised over £2000 for the BBC Children in Need appeal so we are hoping to better that.

Application forms will be available soon so watch this space for more details - Get your team entered to ensure your place, have some fun and raise money for a good cause.




Santa Returns to Whitlingham
22nd December 2008 to 23rd December 2008

Whitlingham is proving to be a popular location for Santa. Its one of his favourite workshops and locations to launch his sleigh. Its the perfect spot to meet with the little ones (and some not so little) in the beautiful frosty outdoor environment of Whitlingham Country Park.
